Have Something You’d Love to Teach?

You bring the knowledge. Skill Hall helps shape the class, manage registration, find space and get the word out.

Share Your Class Idea

Artists, makers, tradespeople, professionals, business owners, retirees and experienced hobbyists all have knowledge worth sharing. Start with a strong idea—we’ll help with the structure.

Prospective instructors should honestly represent their experience and be prepared to provide accurate, responsible instruction.

Livingston Skill Hall retains 10% of ticket revenue to support class development, scheduling, registration, participant communication, promotion and administration. Credit-card processing fees are also deducted from ticket revenue.

For paid instructors, the remaining balance is paid according to the written class and compensation agreement. Classes held at The HUB may also include a separate suggested space donation from the paid instructor to Park County Senior Center.

For volunteer instructors, the remaining designated proceeds are paid directly to The HUB according to the written volunteer and fundraiser arrangement.

Tax Information for Paid Instructors

Paid instructors must submit a completed Form W-9 before receiving payment. For payments made during 2026, Livingston Skill Hall will generally issue Form 1099-NEC to instructors who receive $2,000 or more during the calendar year, as required by current IRS reporting rules. Instructor income may still be taxable even when a tax form is not issued.

Paid instructors are responsible for reporting their income and paying applicable federal, state and local taxes.

Safety requirements depend on the subject, location, equipment and level of physical activity involved.

Instructors must disclose foreseeable risks and any use of tools, machinery, sharp objects, heat, chemicals, food, physical movement or other potentially hazardous materials or activities.

Depending on the class, an instructor may be required to:

  • Provide proof of appropriate insurance
  • Complete an additional safety review
  • Follow activity-specific venue requirements
  • Provide relevant qualifications or certifications
  • Use appropriate protective equipment
  • Ensure participants complete an activity-specific acknowledgment or waiver

Additional requirements will be discussed before the class is approved and opened for registration.

Paid instructors provide services independently and are not employees of Livingston Skill Hall. They may accept or decline proposed classes and may offer their services elsewhere.

Volunteer instructors provide teaching services without compensation under a separate written volunteer and fundraiser arrangement. No instructor earnings will be allocated to or received by the volunteer instructor for that class.

Each instructor remains responsible for preparing and delivering their instruction, subject to the agreed class description, schedule, safety requirements, venue policies and written agreement.

The legal classification of a working relationship depends on the actual arrangement and applicable law. Additional documentation may be required based on the instructor, activity or services being provided.
